Calvary Chapel History

While Calvary Chapel is not a denominational church, we are certainly not “out on our own”. There are over 1000 Calvary Chapels in North America and many others around the world. Pastor Chuck Smith started the first Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa, California in 1965. <more>

Our Purpose

Our supreme desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ. <more>
